1920s in the 2020s

The Embroiderers’ Guild Biennial Exhibition

On 27 May 1922 at 149 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, the Foundation Stone for Lodge Tullibardine Masonic Hall was laid. Today, one hundred years later, this building is the home of The Embroiderers’ Guild, Queensland Inc.

Thus, the title of this year’s Exhibition is 1920s in the 2020s with the theme of Foundations running through the event.

Embroidery pieces entered in the Exhibition offer the opportunity for Guild members and the general public to be captivated and inspired by the diversity of the work produced by members.

The theme of the Exhibition will be realised through the other two sections of the Exhibition, namely the Collection display and the Challenge entries.

The exhibition includes a display in the upper rooms of many items from the Collection, all from the 1920s.

The ever-popular boutique gift sales table and an Art Union will be part of the Exhibition. Both of these feature items made by Guild members.

Unfortunately, refreshments in the Tea Room will not be available this year but instead we have added an area full of second-hand embroidery items and books for sale.
