Lloyd Rees: early sketches

Available to view online!

The Museum of Brisbane is closed to the public until further notice.

Click here to view the exhibition online.

This exhibition showcases a selection of Lloyd Rees’ earliest recorded sketches, celebrating his skillful draughtsmanship and interest in capturing Brisbane’s diverse architecture.

One of Australia’s leading 20th century artists, Rees was greatly inspired by European architecture, an interest which infuses many of his drawings.

The artworks encourage us to view our city through the lens of romanticism and escape.
