Making do

Exhibition at the Redcliffe Museum.

It’s an old mantra: ‘use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without’.

During times of hardship, like the Great Depression and the war years, ‘making do’ was a way of life – furniture made from packing crates, continually mending clothing and improvising solutions to make ends meet. Today, making do is less about survival, and more about considering our impact as consumers.

Showcasing fascinating make do objects from the past, this exhibition also features reused and repurposed contemporary objects.

Exhibition developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
