The Bowen Collection

Latest exhibition at Miegunyah House Museum!

The Bowen Collection comprises personal possessions, photographs, diaries and some official Civic Memorabilia belong to Sir George Bowen (first Governor of Qld) and his wife Lady Roma Diamantina Bowen who came to Queensland as it was proclaimed a colony in its own right in 1859. The collection came to the Queensland Women’s Historical Association because of the efforts of Mrs Martha Young, an early President, who travelled to England in the 1960s to persuade the Bowen descendants to send items of historical interest to Queensland.

Miegunyah House Museum is open Wednesday 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm and Saturday & Sunday 12.30 pm – 4.00 pm
