Yarning with artist Gordon Hookey

Gordon Hookey is a renowned Australian Indigenous artist from the Waanyi people. He has exhibited throughout Australia. His artwork features at Logan Libraries in the Superpowered on Tour display and activities, held in collaboration with the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA). His work is best known for its biting satire of Australian culture and politics and its witty critique of racism.

Gordon Hookey will visit Logan Central Library on Saturday 25 February to yarn about the inspiration for his art. He will also do a reading of his picture book, The Sacred Hill. This book features in Superpowered on Tour. It tells the inspiring story of four spirited kangaroos who go on an adventure that will lead them back home to the sacred hill.

Copies of this book are available for loan.

A braille copy of The Sacred Hill is available at each library hosting the Superpowered on Tour display and activities from January to April 2023.
