Queensland Police Museum

In 1864 Queensland became the fifth state to gain its own police department and since then every element of policing practice has evolved dramatically.

The Queensland Police Museum (QPM) is dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of policing in this state, and utilises its archival resources, exhibitions and public programs to compare policing of today and of yesterday.

The exhibition space incorporates 25 displays illustrating a range of policing themes. Public programs include a tailored education program and monthly presentations featuring guest speakers from historical and crime-solving fields.

Discover displays of police heritage, Queensland crimes, investigative techniques, police women, medals, operational equipment, police transport and more. Solve a simulated murder scene or take a selfie while seated on a genuine police motorbike.

The QPM, located on the ground floor of Queensland police headquarters, is open to the public Monday to Thursday and on the last Sunday of the month (Feb-Nov).

Visit the Queensland Police Museum website for further details; or browse through more than 90 other BLHN Places to Visit.
