Heritage Day
Join us this August at the Caboolture Historical Village for Heritage Day!
Heritage Day is designed to educate and connect people to local history, demonstrate traditional methods used to build, make, bake and create, and show the skilled art forms of craftsmen and craftswomen of yesterday. The event will also include displays of our Flora and Fauna with wildlife specialist animal rescue groups and.
Our historical village is filled with buildings full of period history and is the perfect backdrop for an event all about our local history. Defined by the period of time predating 1945 we aim to showcase vintage and veteran periods. Kids will have plenty of opportunities to get hands on and try skills and work machines of old with our special “Give it a Go” elements.
Some of the featured displays and demonstrations include:
- Luthier (guitar maker)
- Blacksmithing
- Family History groups and Historical Societies from around the Moreton Bay region
- Small engine machinery
- Lace Makers Guild
- Animal Husbandry
- Artisans Guild – Local Art Gallery display
- Spinners and Weavers
- Military Displays
- Vintage Market – Steampunk paraphernalia, antiques stall, handmade soaps, fruit wines, old fashioned candy, and Fudge.
- CWA – knitting, felting, quilting, preserves and jams.
- Much more still in progress….
The event will include live entertainment in the form of both static and roving elements as well as special displays of local history to compliment the history on display in the village. To add to the atmosphere, we have invited the steampunk community to add their 18th century dress with the modern twist. Many of our exhibitors will be dressed in the style of the different periods.
Entertainment includes:
- Bushranger Re-enactments
- Redcliffe Scottish Pipe Band
- Blarney Stone Celtic Band – Playing in the hotel.
- Dance Kaleidoscope (18th-century country dance in costume) – roving performances.
- North Pine Bush Poets – between band sets at the hotel
