Hats Off to Our Heroes: Australia Gears Up to Celebrate World Teachers’ Day on 25 October!

On Friday 25 October, Australia will celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a pivotal occasion dedicated to honouring the extraordinary contributions of educators nationwide. The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) invites all Australians to take their hats off to the dedicated teachers who tirelessly educate and inspire students, shaping the future of society.

Get Involved!

AITSL is calling on communities across Australia to share their ‘hats off’ selfies as a tribute to teachers. Participants are encouraged to wear their favourite hats—whether it’s a beret, beanie, bucket hat, or bowler—and post on social media using the hashtag #WorldTeachersDay2024 and tagging @aitsleduau on Instagram and LinkedIn or @aitsl on X and Facebook.

Ways to Celebrate:

To facilitate participation, AITSL has compiled a range of resources to help individuals and communities celebrate World Teachers’ Day:

  • Celebration Kit: Access social media images, posters, kids activities, and more.
  • Host a Morning Tea: Connect with your parent committee to organise a morning tea for teachers.
  • Create Thank You Gifts: Craft thank you cards or gifts to show appreciation.
  • Art Projects: Involve children in creating artwork dedicated to their teachers.
  • Share from the Heart: Be creative and express your gratitude in your own way!
