Secret Communication and Social Change

Join Queensland Museum Kurilpa for an engaging panel discussion featuring a distinguished group of First Nations activists, including Gail Mabo, along with other prominent Black advocates. These influential figures played pivotal roles in shaping Queensland’s Blak activism history, contributing to significant social and political change. Representing diverse fields of activism, they will share secrets and offer unique perspectives on the ongoing fight for Black rights, justice, and equality in Queensland.

This event is a must-attend for those seeking a deeper understanding of the legacy and enduring impact of Blak activism. Presented as part of the Secrets: Objects of Intrigue exhibition, this discussion underscores our commitment to sharing and celebrating the untold stories that have shaped Queensland’s history. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from those who were instrumental in a critical chapter of the struggle for justice and equality.

Queensland Museum would like to advise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples this panel discussion may contain stories of people who have passed, and detail experiences that some audience members may find confronting or triggering.

This event is free. Recommended for ages 15+. Bookings are encouraged but walk-ups are welcome.

Presented in Partnership with University of Queensland.
