Queensland Museum Rail Workshops
Whether you’re a trainspotter or a steampunk, a travel enthusiast, rail romantic or an inquisitive young explorer, get on board at The Queensland Museum Rail Workshops for an eye-opening journey through the State’s history as seen from the birthplace of rail in Queensland, the heritage-listed Ipswich Railway Workshops.
The landmark museum, with its prominent saw-toothed roofline, features 15 larger-than-life exhibition zones that take visitors on an interactive journey through the history of Queensland and showcase the social, technical and cultural impacts rail transport and travel have had on our lives.
Australia’s oldest working steam locomotive, the largest model railway of Queensland, train simulators, and beautifully restored carriages, including the Vice-Regal carriage, are among the centrepieces of an authentic heritage and cultural experience that also features hands-on exhibits, multimedia experiences and colourful storytelling. Plus there’s Nippers Railway, a hands-on, adventure playground for budding young train enthusiasts and Sciencentre featuring more than 20 interactive stations.
Admission: Adult $14.50, Concession $12.50, Child $11.50, Under 3yo free, Family (2 adults + 2 children) $44.50.
