Brisbane Living Heritage is thrilled to spotlight one of our esteemed members, Brisbane Open House (BOH), as they gear up for an extraordinary weekend event on 13th and 14th July, 2024. This annual event opens the doors to some of Brisbane’s most iconic and hidden architectural treasures, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to explore the city’s rich built environment.
A Grand Opening
The 2024 BOH program was officially launched on Wednesday, 19 June, at the Brisbane Powerhouse by Her Excellency, the Governor of Queensland, Dr Jeanette Young, Patron for Brisbane Open House. We are excited to share the details of this year’s event, which promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.
What’s New in 2024?
This year, Brisbane Open House is taking a geo-focused approach. The program will primarily centre on inner-Brisbane, allowing easy access to as many Open House buildings as possible. Additionally, they will be integrating the wonderful Villages of Brisbane into the weekend program, with New Farm being the featured Village of Brisbane (VOB) for 2024. This collaboration is especially meaningful as the New Farm & Districts Historical Society celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

- Geo-focused Program: Concentrated in inner-Brisbane for convenient access.
- Villages of Brisbane: New Farm as the 2024 VOB, with special activities and collaborations with the New Farm & Districts Historical Society and the Art Deco Society.
- Key Hubs:
- Thomas Dixon Centre – Queensland Ballet in West End
- State Library of Queensland – South Brisbane
- Brisbane Powerhouse – New Farm, serving as the central hub for activities and a full-day speaker series on Sunday, 14th July.
- Guided Walks: Explore Brisbane through a series of guided walks, tours and talks.
- Activities and Workshops: Engage in various activities, activations, and workshops across multiple locations.
